Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNO): The higher reaches of Kashmir Valley especially in northern districts experienced fresh snowfall on Saturday while intermittent rainfall continued in plains for the second straight day, thus bringing the temperature further down. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg and other places like Sonamarg, Kupwara, Drass and others received fresh snowfall. Kupwara higher reaches as per the local Meteorological department received one ft snow today while eight inches of snow was received in Gulmarg and Sonamarg. Deputy Director MeT, Mukhtar Ahmad told KNO that the weather would start improving from tonight and will gradually improve from tomorrow. He added that the mercury across the Valley would also increase as per the forecast. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar as per the local weatherman recorded a maximum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg recorded a temperature 0.2 degrees Celsius. The mercury in Pahalgam, a tourist destination, settled at 4.0 degrees Celsius. Pertinently, the intermittent rainfall in plains threw normal life out of gear today as the rains led to the water logging at several places. The pedestrians had to face tremendous hardships due to the accumulated muddy water. Notably, the Kashmir parts received light rainfall on Friday as well, thereby bringing the temperature down in the Valley—(KNO)
